Denver’s Unlocking Housing Choices

What It Means for Hilltop

Denver Community Planning and Development has launched a significant community process called Unlocking Housing Choices, aimed at enabling more middle-income housing options in Denver's residential neighborhoods through potential updates to the Zoning Code.

The project focuses on expanding "missing middle" housing, things like duplexes, triplexes, and small apartment buildings, in areas currently zoned primarily for single-family homes. The city is working with an advisory committee, and community input is being actively sought.

The committee is hosting a public meetings at the Highland Recreation Center on Tuesday March 24th from 5:30-7:30 and at the Cook Park Recreation Center on Wednesday March 25th, 5:30-7:30. We hope to see you there!

As a neighborhood, it's worth paying attention to how this process unfolds and making our voices heard. You can learn more and sign up for updates directly at Unlocking Housing Choices and read their Issue Identification Report.

Sweeping Season Begins in April

Check your street for dates, you may need to move your car!

Denver's residential street sweeping program kicks off in April, which means it's time to keep an eye on posted signs in your neighborhood and plan accordingly. Moving your car on sweeping days helps keep Hilltop's streets clean and avoids a ticket! Check the posted schedule on your block or visit Denver's Street Sweeping page for your specific sweep dates.

Sign Up to Volunteer at Spring Community Clean-Up Day

Robinson Park is one of the clean up spots this round

Denver City Council District 5 residents are coming together to revitalize our cherished public spaces during Spring Community Clean-Up Day on Sunday, April 19, from 8:30 a.m. to 11:00 a.m. at Montclair Recreation Center. This biannual event invites residents of all ages to join forces and help beautify our local parks, trails, and bus stops. Volunteers will refresh parks and trails by removing trash and debris, clearing overgrown vegetation, maintaining walking paths, and brightening bus benches with a fresh coat of paint–enhancing both the appearance and usability of public spaces.

The locations rotate for each clean up, and this year Robinson Park is on the list! Sign up to help keep Robinson, and our entire neighborhood and district, clean!
